What’s Up, Riversdale? September 3–9

Location, location, location!
You chose Atomic Prairie because you like to be close to the action — and this week, there’s plenty happening practically outside your door.
Fireworks over the river, local art, drag, markets, food trucks and more. One of the best parts of staying in Riversdale is being able to walk out the door and find something happening.
So, what’s up in Riversdale this week?
🎆 FRIDAY + SATURDAY: Nutrien Fireworks Festival
Friday, September 4 | 5–10 PM
Saturday, September 5 | 12–10 PM
River Landing | FREE
One of Saskatoon’s biggest free weekends of the year is happening just a short walk from Atomic Prairie.
The Nutrien Fireworks Festival takes over River Landing Friday and Saturday with live entertainment, cultural performances, family activities, food trucks and market vendors.
And, of course, the main event:
Fireworks at 9:30 PM both nights.
Come early, grab something to eat, browse the vendors and find your spot along the river before the sky lights up.
🎨 SATURDAY + SUNDAY: Modern Artmakers
September 5 & 6 | 11 AM–4 PM
Remai Modern By donation | Free for members & youth under 18
Need something a little quieter during the day?
Remai Modern hosts Modern Artmakers, an all-ages drop-in artmaking program inspired by the museum’s exhibitions.
No registration required. Just show up and make something.
🛍️ KEEP AN EYE ON: Market on H
If you like finding the smaller, hyper-local stuff while you’re here, Market on H is one to know.
The market brings together local artists, makers, vintage sellers and small businesses right here in Riversdale.
Even between market dates, give them a follow to see what’s popping up next.
👑 SUNDAY: Green Beans 2 Year Anniversary Drag Show
Sunday, September 6
Art Bar | 229 20th Street W
Green Beans is turning TWO!
Green Beans Drag Open Mic is celebrating its two-year anniversary Sunday at Art Bar.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, this seems like a pretty excellent week to fix that. Come celebrate two years of local drag, new performers and queer creativity right here in the neighbourhood. Free to attend, but tips are welcome!
✨ WORTH THE WANDER: Help Riversdale Win $500!
Okay, this one technically requires leaving Riversdale.
But we have a very good reason.
The Neighbourhood Face Off is happening at Nasser Plaza as part of the Nutrien Fireworks Festival:
Friday, September 4 | 5–8 PM
Saturday, September 5 | 12–8 PM
Nasser Plaza | FREE
Visit the Neighbourhood Face Off tent, choose Riversdale as the neighbourhood you’re representing and take part in the activities.
Every participant adds to Riversdale’s score — and the winning neighbourhood receives $500 for its Community Association.
That means $500 we can put right back into programming and events for the neighbourhood.
There’ll be ladder toss, mini golf, inflatable bowling, basketball, axe throwing, baseball and more.
That’s our little taste of what’s happening in Riversdale this week.
One of our favourite things about this neighbourhood is that you don’t necessarily need an itinerary. Head out the door, walk toward 20th Street or the river, and see what you find.
See you around the neighbourhood.
