Hello, Thanksgiving weekend! 🍂

This week in Riversdale, you can make something with your own two hands, explore Indigenous media art, play badminton with Riversdale neighbours, catch a little Halloween sci-fi and laugh until your face hurts.

And if you're up for a field trip, there are farm animals waiting.

So, what's up in Riversdale this week?

🪵 THURSDAY: Wood Lathe 101

Saskatoon Makerspace | 209 Ave. D S | Registration required

Ever wanted to make something out of wood but weren't sure where to start?

Saskatoon Makerspace is offering an introduction to woodturning. Learn the tools, techniques and safety basics, then make your own wooden honey dipper to take home.

A little sawdust. A new skill. Something you made yourself.

🏸 THURSDAY: Badminton!

October 8 | 8–9:30 PM

King George School | 721 Ave. K S | FREE

Looking for something active that doesn't involve a gym membership?

Riversdale Community Association hosts free neighbourhood badminton on Thursdays. Bring a racquet if you have one. There are a few available to borrow.

All skill levels welcome!

And badminton is just one of the many free programs happening in Riversdale this fall. Check out the Riversdale Community Association's social media for more.

Not to be confused with last week's One Take Super 8!

This one's the 2011 sci-fi adventure Super 8, where a group of kids making a homemade zombie movie witness a mysterious train crash. And then things get weird.

A little spooky, a little nostalgic and a great way to ease into Halloween month. Recommended for ages 10+.

Big comedian. Little room. Excellent combination.

🐐 WORTH THE WANDER: Wander's Tiny Farm

Thanksgiving Monday, October 12 | 10 AM–5 PM

East of Saskatoon | Regular admission

Normally closed Mondays, Wander's Tiny Farm is making an exception for Thanksgiving!

Visit the farm animals, explore the grounds and enjoy a little fresh air before winter arrives.

Farm animals. Fall weather. A little countryside adventure.

Go on. Take the field trip.

That's our little taste of what's happening in Riversdale this week.

One of our favourite things about this neighbourhood is that you don't necessarily need an itinerary. Head out the door, walk toward 20th Street or the river, and see what you find.
